About Us
The Composite Regional Centre for skill development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC)-Andaman and Nicobar Islands was Inaugurated on January 27th 2020 at Brookshabad, Port Blair, South Andaman which is situated 7 kms. from the Veer Savarkar International Airport, also known as Port Blair Airport. It is functioning under the Administrative Control of NIEPMD (Divyangjan), Chennai, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Govt. of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a union territory of India comprising 572 islands of which 37 are inhabited, are a group of islands at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. As of 2011 Census, 1.75% of the population of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands consisted of persons with disabilities. The Union Territory has an estimated population of 6,660 persons with disabilities in a total population of 3,80,581 people. Composite Regional Centre (CRC), A & N Islands aims to provide rehabilitation for the PwDs to attain and maintain optimal, physical, sensory, intellectual, psychological environmental or social function levels. It also aims to empower PwDs to respect their inherent dignity, individual autonomy, non-discrimination, full and effective participation and inclusion in society and respect for difference and acceptance.
VISION OF CRC- A & N ISLANDS
CRC Andaman and Nicobar Islands aims to be independent in Rehabilitation services for the Persons with Disabilities and to reach every single Person with Disability in the Remotest Islands to the greatest extent possible. To envision a society where quality of life of all the people have been improved and who have equal opportunities to participate in a society where abilities, rather than disabilities.
